The closest built-up area to the airport, cheapest rooms, loudest nights. Kuta is backpacker and nightlife-heavy; Legian is a slightly calmer step north.
Getting around
Very walkable along the beach road and Jl. Legian. Taxis and Grab are everywhere; the one-way system means car journeys are longer than they look.
Eating and drinking
Cheap warungs, chain restaurants, surf bars and late-night food. Quality rises as you move north into Legian.
Worth knowing
Beginner-friendly surf beach with lifeguards. Expect touts along Jl. Legian and loud music until late near Sky Garden.
