The feel
Surf, cafés, co-working and gyms spread across Berawa, Batu Bolong and Pererenan. Young, busy and building fast; Pererenan and Nyanyi are the quieter edges.
Getting around
A scooter is close to essential — the shortcuts are narrow and the main roads are gridlocked from late afternoon. Gojek bikes beat cars almost everywhere here.
Eating and drinking
Specialty coffee, brunch and beach clubs on the sand at Berawa and Batu Bolong; warungs one street back are a third of the price.
Worth knowing
Black-sand beaches with real rips — swim near the surf schools. Construction noise is common in newer streets.
